New toy – Sanyo Xacti
Ok, so in the spirit of full disclosure, our friends at Sanyo’s PR firm sent me a Sanyo Xacti to review. And, since you all know that I have endorsed stuff (see my AlterEGO and GK posts), and you all know that I have a sense of humor, I hope that I can find a way to balance my review with at least something self-deprecating, maybe even sarcastic. E/O with Mulatu Astatke
In February, 2008, I was fortunate enough to perform with Mulatu Astatke in Oakland, CA – a fantastic night it was, albeit a soggy one. It was monsoon season in Oakland, so everyone – the entire band, everyone working at the club, the audience – we were all soaked. Happily, some of the concert has make it online. This was also a great moment for me, what with this being my first flight with the AlterEGO.

I Play GK
A wonderful turn of events has come from a pretty challenging experience. A few weeks ago, my car was broken into and some very serious gear was taken from it. The tricky thing about the experience is that it left me somewhat paralyzed, because the most important things stolen from me were the amplifiers I use on gigs. These amplifiers were made by Gallien-Krueger. Well, as of a couple days ago, I am honored to say that I now am a part of the Gallien-Krueger endorsing artists program. I plan on posting an update once the gear arrives. I can already tell you that it’s great gear because I have been using GK amps almost exclusively for nearly 20 years. Many thanks to Bob Gallien and Brian Clark at GK!

My new bass
It’s so gratifying to post a title like that one, “My new bass.” Don’t get me wrong, I love my “old” bass, which is to say that I love my:
